Thanks for the kind words guys!

He's definitely a character, and already I can see why these dogs have been described 'overly affectionate', he follows me around everywhere and he's so eager to please. Only been home a day and a bit and he sits to command.

Very good choice and a great looking dog.

There has been 'radio silience' from Highbird 70 about his puppy. I expect that it is running the entire household by now, driving his boy to school, doing chores, mowing lawns etc.

I am sure that there will be no end of 'experts' advising you how to train your dog but very few will have even heard of a Portuguese Pointer.

I keep in almost daily contact with Highbird and his dog is coming along well. He's out shooting today, but I'm sure he will be on later to post an update.

You're quite right in not a lot of people have even heard of the breed, but I'm sure I'll get some tips on the basics from those people too.

Jake actually flew over with one of his brothers who went to Cookrise Pointers (if you've heard of them), so I'll be getting some guidance from them too.

Either way I have my work cut out I'm sure....
