Saw a village on the news where they paraded an effigy of maggie around on the day of the funeral and burnt it. Would have thought the brothers and sisters would have been looking for work not playing. That prob cost the tax payer a few grand in benefit payments.

Hmmm

Public spending on Baroness Thatcher's funeral totalled £3.6m, Downing Street has announced.

About £500,000 was spent on ceremonial costs such as St Paul's Cathedral and receptions after the funeral. A further £1.1m went on policing and security.

An additional £2m "opportunity cost" was for police officers who would have been on other duties on the day.

*** is opportunity cost!!!!

So real cost was £1.6m

+1. Mainly gone into the pockets of all the Police who did overtime. Whatever your thoughts about her 3.8 million isn't a massive amount for this very influential figure. When you consider 3.8 million would probably only buy you one of Ronaldo's hands.

what does a footballers hands have to do with the British government blowing 3.6million quid on a has been politician ???

Her own estate should have paid for it not us the sodding tax payer.

Figgy

I believe that the family did pay for the cremation and the "normal" funeral costs - the £3.8m is for the ceremonial costs, and wholly appropriate, given her unique status

that village is around 5 miles away from me,

There probably some ex miners there but........THE

Majority there where under 25 so just there to get on the cameras and show themselves up and where not born when the strike was taking place..

The rest where just people jumping on the bandwagon that had no idea about whatever happened with the mines but just did not agree what thatcher stood for .......totally embarrassing for Yorkshire......

How are you going to cope when queenie passes away? Now that will be a monster bill. A lot of you old school labour men aint really into that either.

no bother with queenie worth every penny, she brings more money in than she costs :good: , plus she is a genuine monarch with true compassion and humanity rather than a hazel broom flying bat, with a hatred for the working class.
