rabbiter
well got back from the game fair about an hour ago,the mrs did actually come to this one with the kids, met up with my mates from lincoln and headed straight for the clay line, met country lass and her husband(sorry name escapes me)and then andy(hitclays)came over to see me shoot, then tried to tell me how to hit trap "c" on the pool shoot, still couldnt do it,but they were the only members of PW i saw, apparently i was the only one sporting my PW polo shirt,oh and chatted for a while with "dollydip" (andy),pleased i went down early as there was an accident which sent cars on a diversion, all in all a great day and the weather was lovely......DAZ

Alan Maughan
It took me 1.5hrs to drive down from Northumberland, got within 2 miles of the place by 10.30 direct from the A1, I then sat in traffic for another 1.5hrs and I was still a good mile from the gates so reluctantly turned around and went home! I couldnt see me getting inside much before 1.30 from a 9am start, a woefully inadequate road system that was totally unprepared for the volume of traffic. What a disaster If anyone is going tomorrow go early and try to approach from Ripon instead of the A1. kdubya
enjoyed the day took me 50mins from the A1 got me seat off paul hart shot the clays looked a doddle but proved otherwise! still a decent day out in good weather, only thing that spoiled it was as usual the dog owners who let their dogs **** and then just walk away as if nothing happened, scruffy ****. Yellow Bear
Sat for nearly 3 hours in a traffic jam doing the last 5 or so miles ( took 15 min on way out including queue getting off ground) then some plonker gets his car stuck in the gateway (refuses a push and just spins it in deeper and takes 15 minutes to get out) so did not get in 'til gone 2 - most of what I went to see was finished or nearly so. Too late for the clay line really, so went to get some bits for the new pup as not had a dog for several years - again disappointed as for a large dog event there were virtually no trade stands and those that were had extremely poor selection of stuff and not all we required. Usually you can't move for dog beds and paraphernalia :( All in all pretty p'd off with the whole shebang so shan't bother with Yorkshire again - why o why do they always use venues with a one lane for both directions gate - Harewood was the same long queue to get in the time I went. fern01
I went today with SWMBO and grandson. The weather was perfect. Arrived early (9.00am) and got in quite easily but the numbers that turned up for such a small show were staggering and must have taken the organisers by surprise. There was an incredible number of fantastic looking spaniels walking about. Why do the organisers find it necessary for so many staff vehicles to be driven around through the crowds of people? Guess who couldn't find their car on the way out, yup half of the North of England seem to have a black 4 x 4.

Peskyfoxs
10 minutes to get in, weather great but not impressed with trade offerings. Failed miserably at the pool shoot but Wife got a first in companion dog show and going again tomorrow with some friends and might actually get a proper look at what few shooting relatated stalls there were. pigeonblasterian
Got there at 0830 and there was a queue of cars but only took about another 10 minutes to get parked up.Not a lot of shooting related stands. Clay shooting was a good setup and and there were a few folks missing some of the clays.Be best to watch and just get to know where they are coming from before you have a go. Weather was perfect and if you like watching the dogs there is plenty going on.They could have had better seating laid on around the arenas instead of the odd bale of straw. If your going to watch a few things it might be worth taking a fold up chair or two if you have some. There was certainly a good crowd and they were still coming in when i left in the afternoon.
demonwolf444
been today. Very disappointing, clays looked okay but i didnt come prepared. Usual people there, again, very few shooting or fieldsports sales there. The stuff that was there was overpriced and not great quality. Great working gun dog display

neil3728
Decided to to pop over on Sunday, thanks Hitclays for the tickets. had a good time but couldn't hit anything on stand 4. Best bit of the whole day was my 8 year old daughter having a go with a .410. She didn't hot anything but enjoyed it so much she is now asking when am i going to buy her one. Didn't see any thing I fancied buying, was looking for some safety glasses for shooting but didn't see any for sale.
