Are you out on June 16th?

Well, Sunday is the opening day of the rivers season and I guess some of us will be out using that lovely new tackle we get for Father's Day ( or more likely wearing the bloody socks we always seem to get!)

I'll be on a little river by me from late afternoon on Sunday through to 10 or 11pm hoping to try and tempt a few chub, hopefully some big perch as it gets dark and maybe even a barbel which I am told the river holds although I've never seen one on the bank or in the water.

Where will you be on Sunday?

I might come up and try by you Dave! It's too windy for the fly rod at the moment but the river looks lovely.

PS. There are definitely barbel in there on my private stretch near me so I would expect them downstream your way as well.

By all means pop over Anthony.....I will probably be in the next meadow up from Southfields Farm.....certainly will be by the old railway bridge as evening draws in.

For anyone interested, I was at Redmire Pool last weekend on a work party .....search Facebook for Redmire to see a few pics that were taken

Well, I went out about half three and thought I was on for a red letter day with a nice chub of about 3lbs first cast. Left that swim after the catch, moved 50 yards downstream and had another, slightly smaller. Good start I thought.

That was it though until about 7pm when a pike of about 8lbs decided to latch onto the small dead trout that I'd taken from the freezer to pop under a bush that always seems to hold a pike or two. Had to call it a day then because the mozzies decided they wanted to have a feed....bloody nuisance things!!

Hope everyone else had a good day if you ventured out.
