Sandbank
When Hull Superfast appeared, they were supposedly a limited run using redundant components but offered a very competively priced clubman/practice load of 27gm 7.5 shot. They were initially available at around £155 per 1000. They have proved to be not so 'limited' as first suggested and have gained a good following amongst those of us looking for a cheapish clay load. However the price has crept up a bit and I am informed, set for quite a big jump fairly soon. Other threads have discussed a recent increase in cartridge prices by many suppliers. So I was very pleased to see my local ground (not the very cheapest around) now offering Gamebore Velocity 28gm 7.5 shot at £150 per 1000 members rate. Tried them today and they seem a perfectly competent cartridge, perhaps a little slower than the Hull but still quite lively. Is this price typical? If a one-off I will be stocking up big time. Can you really tell any difference between the speeds of both of these cartridges?
Sandbank
Can you really tell any difference between the speeds of both of these cartridges? Merely going on quoted speeds, 1400 vs 1500 fps. Nothing that a clubman such as myself could ever detect. no company sets up just to limited run for redundant cartridge components. its just hearsay. Hearsay perhaps but widely reported hearsay at the time! I was not setting out to draw any qualitative comparison between the Gamebore Velocity and the Hull Superfast, merely to report that I was able to purchase the former at a good price and the latter getting more expensive thus enquiring if this is currently typical. sitsinhedges
The figures printed on cartridge boxes are about as accurate and honest as car manufacturers fuel consumption figures.

aga man
sandbank, personally i think the gamebore carts you bought are good value. i don't really shoot clays but a year ago i bought some kent velocity loaded by gamebore that were basically the same they were £4 a box then which is still more than £150 a thousand. as for hull i don't know about the 7.5 but the 6 29gm are always suposedly getting 'discontinued'. i have heard from a good source that this to do with super fast effecting the sales of game carts as a lot of folk use them for game shooting. as for the gamebore imo good quality for the money you are paying. aga man. Thanks aga man for answering my question, the price aspect was my main query. Guess too much information in my original post, just glad I did not comment on the depth of the brass base or the colour of the case! timps
I paid £144 per thousand about 2 weeks ago but was informed that this was going up once the current batch was sold & somewhere in the region of £10 increase was mentioned. For the price they are a hard cartridge to beat.
delburt0
For the "size of spread In time" and the distance there would have to be a pretty big difference in speed to notice if your on the target..

Iggy
I was about to try 1000 Superfast recently, I saw them advertised at £148/1000 so though they would be worth a try at the price. However 2 days later when I looked again they had gone up by almost £20/1000 to £165. I'm sure they have been very successful for Hull but banging them up by £20/1000 puts them up against a lot of competition so it'll be interesting to see if they continue to sell so well. I'm certainly less interested than I was and will probably spend my hard earned elsewhere. I wonder why Hull felt the need to bump the price by 12% less than 12 months after launch......I must check my payslip to see if my salary has gone up by the same..... mike-b
both seem to be cracking shells but colour is the overriding factor for me as i shoot a semi that spits them 100yrds the navy blue super fast are just to hard to find in the woods where as the faded red of the velocity are much easier! and i think price wise there a little cheaper to but that will depend where you go! OvEr_KiLL
the hull superfast price has gone up by around £10-20 recently, havnt heard if they are going up again..but i shoot dtl and i use these cartridges regulary. i have used the gamebore velocitys aswel but much preffer the superfast. the clays seem to break better and they have a little more recoil, they are also slightly cleaner too my local was selling the velocitys at £4 a box and he said when he gets his next batch in the price is going to be £5 a box as gamebore have put the price up...so he says only place i can get the superfast round here is if i order them from justcartridges.com! shaun4860
Our dealer has said that Hull has/is increasing prices by 10% and that as far as he has heard nobody else was following suit However if the other manufacturers see that it hasn't affected sales (Hulls) then expect them to follow with what they think they can get away with
Whitebridges
Just shot through 500 Gamebore Velocity ( light blue case) got them at £37.50 a slab but the next lot will be a higher price. Good shell.
