DirtyDeeds
Had my visit from the FEO. Done the usual checks, and had a talk about my 'divorce problems' of 14 yrs ago. All went OK. He asked me some questions about handling guns - the fact that I once had range officer training at RAF St. Athen to take cadets shooting may have helped! He said he'll give a ring when the certificate is ready - if I want a gun, put the cabinet in place, he'll come around and 'give a quick tug' and then hand over 'the deeds'! So I guese all went well. DirtyDeeds
Thanks guys. I've a late Xmas prezzy in mind - a Lanber Sporting Deluxe. Plus, a friend with whom I shoot with at work, his brother-in-law has about 40 acres of land that he occasionally seeds, lets the 'birdies' get used to eating there, then goes down one weekend and bags some pigeons... "Do I want to go along?"..... Yeah! So I might just get something cheap and nasty as well, a s/h Baikal o/u, as a 'grouse gun'. If I drop it a ditch, bend it on a tree, I won't shed no tears. I've also got a Webley Vulcan air rifle that needs a good home while I'm looking for a cabinet, so I guese a good size one is a must. I have taken quality guns into the woods, fields and on the foreshore, for very many years and never damaged any beyond the need for a minor repair. You are just as likely to "damage" your Lanber Sporting Deluxe at the Clay Grounds (where I had a gun run over and the stock broken), as in the field. Well done on the FEO visit. Catamong
Cranners is dead right, I wouldn't like to be near you if you're in the habit of treating your gun like a walking stick, you'll end up peppering somebody. Cat.

Cat. Oy! Less of that 'walking stick' stuff - I ain't that old (you been talkin' to my daughter again? She keeps threatening to me 'Just for Men' for Xmas!) Yeah, I agree with what 'Cranners' says, it was just a friends suggestion. Maybe I will, maybe I won't, dunno yet.
pin
You will need a deep rifle cabinet if you want to keep your rifle with scope in there, no great shakes they are a few quid more then the shotty only ones. The added benefit is when you decide you want your FAC, one less job to do

The added benefit is when you decide you want your FAC, one less job to do I don't know if that will ever happen - don't you need a damn good reason for one, and land to be able to shoot it on?
