WelshAndy
Evening all, I have the opertunaty to buy what I think is a rare shotgun. I've searched the Internet quite heavily and can't find a lot of information on it. The gun is a beretta 686 EL with fixed chokes at quarter and half. Can anyone advise me on what the gun is worth and maybe a little history too Cheers Andy It's like this one Edited July 23, 2013 by WelshAndy
Thunderbird
687 EL I think? Four on Guntrader. Go look.

JohnfromUK
I have an S57EL, which I think was the previous model. Nice guns, well made and reliable.
wymberley
If that's considered rare, how would a 687EELL, 12 bore, double trigger, fixed 1/4 by 3/4 choke, 26" barrels with SH stock be described?
rimfire4969
I am no expert but have been looking at EL's for a while, as you would expect they are well made and will last a life time. There are always a few on Gunwatch / guntrader etc (mostly 687). I don't think it is very rare maybe not a massive amount out there, could be that people who have them don't sell them but i have seem them from about £1100 to £2000 for a very good one with great wood. Not knocking your one as i would love it, but the wood does not look that great compared to some ive seen. I think you can track the serial number to give you a rough age but i would guess 1980's. This one below has a nice piece of wood on it. http://www.guntrader.co.uk/Guns-For-Sale/Beretta_Shotgun_687-EL_For-Sale_130426130300001
WelshAndy
The pictures aren't of the actual gun it's just one I found on the net, the wood on the one I've seen is a lot better. Wymberely a 687 eell with that spec is probably rarer but that's not what I asked. I know there are many variants of the 687 el eell for sale etc but I've never seen a 686 el hence my question. It's priced similar to a plain old 686 e so I'm gonna buy it anyway. Thanks for everyone's knowledge. Andy
rimfire4969
Sorry I should read post better, even if the wood is not that great I would of thought if you could get it under a grand it's a steal. As I have said I have been looking for a EL for a while but have never found the right one. This makes you a lucky bar stool.

sandy22
Fake side plates? Please explain .If a gun has side plates how can they be "fake " ? Because it's not actually a sidelock, but a boxlock dressed up to look like one.
bostonmick
the eell is not a sidelock the plates are purely decoration however being a el or eell they are of higher build quality.
HDAV
Because it's not actually a sidelock, but a boxlock dressed up to look like one. Sideplates a sidelock does not make, nothing wrong with a boxlock and if you want to pay extra for the sideplates enjoy.
Gunman
Because it's not actually a sidelock, but a boxlock dressed up to look like one. Yes we know what side plates are .They are side plates . It was the description of "fake " side plates that got me . They are sideplates plain and simple nothing fake about them at all . Call me picky but please lets get the terminology correct .
