smiffypete
Have you ever had one of those days where you seem to think whats going on with the woodies. My dad and I thought lets have a go for some pigeon thinking we might get 20 tops then ending up running out of cartridges and freezer space. Bagging 201 and the first 5 was from 3 shots. But the last bird of the day was the strangest as we were counting the birds my dad shouted duck so I dropped to the floor and woodie wizzed parst me and ended up tangling it self up in the hide netting. Anyone else got any strange story's?

smiffypete
Sorry for the minimal infomation im new to this. We shot over wheat it had only been put in 5 days. We set up on the brow of the hill between 2 oak trees. We put out 6 flock coated decoys and 5 dead birds in cradles. The first 2 birds landed in the tree to the left so had both with 1 shot and put them out on the magnet 2 more come and sat in the same tree so they had the same treatment but ended on bouncers and then saw nothing for half an hour then a single dropped straight into the patern. Then nothing for about 45 mins and as always just as your about to have a drink they start coming in 3 and 4's for about 3 hours. Not beeing the best shots we used about 300 + cartridges. God knows what the kamikaze pigeon was thinking. But all in all the best days shooting me and my dad have ever had. The farmer was chuffed as well. JDog
A day to remember. Other PW members like to read a decent story about pigeon shooting outings, especially one as productive as yours. Information could include the part of the country you were in, the crop the birds were feeding on, the decoy set up, rotary or flapper or neither, weather conditions, how well the dogs did etc.
filzee
Me and a shooting buddy once set up on a field of freshly drilled wheat. It was the first hot and sunny day for quite a while and the birds were coming over some trees about 500 yards in front of us and screaming into the decoys heading straight at the magnet. I have never had anything like that before or since. They came in so fast that they were hard to see and even harder to shoot.
pigeon controller
Well done, two hundred on the seed is a great result. Freezers on overtime.

Michael170874
Hi all Mine was this year in February with my son over rape.we drove around for hours watching the fields but didn't see much,it got to two o'clock and we thought sod it and set up under a big ash tree on the rape field were we had seen 20 or so get up .thinking about packing it in 20 mins later with nothing coming in.all of a sudden we spotted a huge line of pigeons tailing back hundreds of yds heading straight towards us then I realised we were under a flight line wich continued for 2 hours non stop .we ended up with 189 birds for 250 cartridges .so I know where we will be this year.
