nabbers
Bit stunned to read on a response to my court application to have seeing my kids set in stone that ex missus says I tried to shoot myself x2 and said |I would drive my kids off a cliff in a car. All complete lies. Nobody asking me to hand in my guns, obviously if there was a real threat they wouldnt let me have my kids and guns, cars carving knives at the same time. There is a 'witness', the same person that counter signed my licence application, related to my ex, we weren't married when they signed it, they forgot about that when they started these lies. Any advice? Should I hand in my guns for now? How do you disprove these sort of lies?
Mungler
Get them put with someone else. Someone else off here had a similar problem - spiteful ex said he had threatened with a shotgun, but all shotguns were with RFD. Proved her to be a liar right there. HDAV
Lodge guns with RFD and get receipts, contact BASC ( or other organisation you are a member of), FLO as well and explain as a precaution your lodging them with RFD. Also inform your solicitor of your actions and the response from FLO and BASC if member
malkiserow
There may be other considerations before you go paying out on RFD's Look at the costs of said RFD and weigh up if this is going to go on for a long time...... Bit of a gamble. If the guns are bog-standard it may be cheaper to flog them now and purchase same again when the dust settles. It all depends.............. Just a thought. Good luck fella. Don't let her stupid games get you down.
-Mongrel-
If RFD costs are prohibitive, do you know anyone else who can take them. If they are locked in someone elses cabinet, to which you don't have access and the FEO knows this, same thing isn't it?
mossy835
its a great shame when things get like this, like a lot of us we love our shooting and guns, soon as the shtf, the guns must go.
tignme
My RFD is 24 pence per day per gun plus vat.
HDAV
its a great shame when things get like this, like a lot of us we love our shooting and guns, soon as the shtf, the guns must go. Its a pain but it does offer the best protection. Any accusation of "he threatened to shoot me/himself/the kids/my new partner or was drunk and waving a gun around" can be dismissed without court, it lock them away for a few weeks or months or risk years of court to clear your name.... It's about not letting them rule the situation. Storage is a much cheaper option, shop around perhaps have your most used gun with friend (it is game season after all) or put them on a commission sale basis at RFD on the understanding you wont sell for less than top dollar. http://www.londongunservices.co.uk/default.asp?contentID=

Blunderbust
As has been stated mate, get them away some where safe. I know exactly what you are talking about. When I was in your situation I immediately got permission from the station inspector and booked my guns into the gun safe at work which meant that I could only take them when the custody sergeant was there to sign them out for me. All I will say is thank god I did.
Alanl50
If you use the same RFD all the time - explain - and theres a good chance he will do it for nothing! nabbers
Thanks for the advice! Transferring tomorrow. Damn shame, right in the middle of the season.
Pole Star
Best advice as has been stated lodge them with an RFD , a friend of mine done just that until the matter is resolved & by the courts if need be , being accused of such a thing is not a laughing matter until it is resolved & sadly the police will always believe the accuser when it comes to fire arms matters . I think that is force policy these days so their hands are tied even if you have all the evidence in the world to prove other wise . ps I went through a very similar experience so I do know some thing about it Good luck Edited October 13, 2013 by Pole Star
Alanl50
A friend of mine who went through a really bad spell with missus in his split (acrimonious was a under statement) was given some off record advice he was going through hell with his wife, give up your certificates now and re- apply after a suitable period of time, the reasoning was quite simple no revocation and a straight forward application to get his SGC back. Its a thought for you !!! Alan
