A funny little sound, little heard but a very apt noise for the small duck.

Buck Gardner, Duck Commander and DJ Illinois River Calls all have hen teal calsl available in the UK through a couple of the wildfowling specialist internet suppliers.

Dont forget the hens quack!

Haven't tried the DJ, but have tried Buck Gardner, Duck Commander and Riceland hen teal calls, and the Buck Gardner, that I provided the link to above, is definitely the best of those. Think it may be the cheapest also!

The DJ call is made of wood so will be quite mellow I would have thought.

Thanks for the input regarding the teal calls, as I have been looking at getting one, but was unsure which one to get.

Yeah, I know and have done so many times, but I do have a little bit of a call and decoy fetish.

Trusty for me is a 25 year old Olt Sonderman 66.

I will probably get a teal call at some point. But it's worth remembering that many ducks respond well to the good old mallard call. I've called teal, pintail and wigeon to me using my trusty dr85.

Primos high roller, teal and pintail, brilliant . Cannot do the hen quack, but its a deadly little call

Don't you mean the drake? its hard to do in a tight spot but you need a deep voice and a gentle "dwweeet" to do a mallard drake on a whistle.

I rarely hear the hen teal much (maybe it just blends in to other quacks but its fast with a short note) the drake is a "peep - peep" and can be done on any duck whistle or widgeon whistle. Mostly I hear the drake when a single lands in my spread and starts swimming about trying to illicit a response from his plastic friends with his " peep - peep"

No fella, I mean the hen, I have the peep peep from the primos and try a low quack by voice for the hen call

Hi,

Wonder if you can help. Just got the Mp90.

Do you just blow a couple of short whistles? The descriptions on the package aren't helping much.

Cheers

Just jam your tounge in to cut the note very short and abrupt make a " chirp, chirp" into the call it will come out peep, peep with the correct tone. Try and listen to real teal first
