Actionpigeons
Went down the allotment this morning and this poor creature was in my large rattrap, covered in mange. Being a retired Huntsman I never shoot foxes, and before all you lads jump on me that do . I have nothing against shooting foxes, its just they have given me a good way of life as a huntsman so I leave then be when I can However this vixen was an exception to the rule, I nipped back home for the 410 and some rubber gloves and did the only thing that could be done. she was quite old, as you can see. steve_b_wales
What a sad sight to see. You did her a favour by ending her misery. By the looks of her, I don't think she would have lasted much longer, especially with winter approaching. Mange is one hell of a disease for foxes. Frenchieboy
It's always up to the individual to decide if shooting a fox is justified or not and I can see both sides of the argument so I would not dream of faulting you for not shooting every fox you see! I am one of these that can not go along with the saying "The only good fox is a dead fox", but everyone to their own! Looking at the photos you did that fox a big favour by putting her down quickly and mercifully!
