sitsinhedges
I've found some Eley primer pockets to be oversized probably due the the original primers being large. If you have to use them you can give the primers a tiny dab of superglue before inserting but your better to either buy larger primers or go to a clay ground and get some more suitable empties for free. FatFreddysCat
You need G-1000 oversize primers available from Clay and Game. See page 15 of their online price list. http://claygame.co.uk/uploads/files/CAT26_Full_Sept.pdf
gunners
Try and find cheddite cases like R C cartridges. You also might find that game bore are ok. If not use maxam primers which are slightly larger and they work with the likes of Rio's
Lord Geordie
Hodge! I find there are size differences between Fio and Cheddite primers! Not reloaded with eley before I tend to load fio, winchester and gamebore. I will see what I have in the bag of tricks. If I have a eley in I will see if any of my primers fit! BTW how are you getting on with the 67mm carts? I though the lee was for 70mm? Are you using a spacer?
Underdog
Base wads aint what they used to be! I made a tool. A rod the diameter of the flat part of the base wad in the case. Place empty on a steel block and tap the rod with hammer. Decaped case of course! This closes the hole a little. U.

LG 67mm cases are fine it wont do 65mm cases mines a loadall 2 I got some plastic wads from peter lawman that work spot with no need for a spacer
Lord Geordie
Hi Hodge! The 67mm is the total length of the cart! Wads wouldn't make it any longer Thats why I was asking if you were using a spacer to raise the cart in the press? I also have a Lee Loadall II somewhere! I may see if I can get a 67 to crimp in mine. As I say I will try and find an eley and see if any of my primers are OK as I have 3 types here! deershooter
Eley cases use UEE primers as do Rieo which are larger than the normal CX2000 the clay game disc has a page on primer size and power I buy UEE 684,685'686 from siarm which are the equivalent of CX50,CX1000,CX2000 these can be loaded in to any case with no problem Deershooter

Lord Geordie
Hodge! I got round to checking my cupboard and found a few eley once fired hulls. I then de primed them, and tried a Cheddite CX2000 primer. It FELL in to the primer pocket and took very little to fall back out :o I then tried a Fio 616 primer and it was a nice tight fit. As for the 67mm carts in the load all II, I don't know how you.get away with it I have tried fiochi pigeon 67mm carts and eley realtree 67mm carts and can not get them to fully crimp  Edited January 18, 2014 by Lord Geordie
deershooter
3mm packer under final crimp stage sorts this out Deershooter
Lord Geordie
3mm packer under final crimp stage sorts this out Deershooter So one has to remove the guide, that is screwed to the base for the final crimp station and then add a 3mm spacer? I was under the impression Hodge was able to crimp the 67mm hulls straight from the box so to speak? I had seen the custom spacers you can buy to convert to 65mm for the old English SxS game guns! clakk
for the loose primer issue u could just cheat,an american cousin on shotgun world advises knicking the missus nail varnish.just a blob around the hole drop the primer in by the time youve done a box full 25 or so the first ones will have set .he also reseals the crimp on homeloads for wildfowling to protect from water ingress atb clakk Edited January 18, 2014 by clakk

Lord Geordie
Ah! I see your crimp is not actually finished  You SHOULD have a crimp like this your crimp is only just closed there, but should be more compressed! You can get away with using a washer or a euro cent to give it a bit more of a crimp, by popping the cent on top of the cart and crimping again.
