Underdog
now the game bird season is over, need to change the flint, getting unreliable! Frizzen needs lubing on the hinge too! Fiddlers delight these guns are The hunt passed through just after the photo so pretty much ruined my chances of another.......nevermind. The wind got up and a vile sleet storm caught me out working a hedge so got a good drenching.....time to go home. Pulled the shot due to the storm stopping the firelock! Got this snap in the back yard this morning too....hansom bird! Underdog. Edited February 8, 2014 by Underdog

Mentalmac
Nice pics! I also wondered about the headless dog aswell - especially when you said 'pulled the shot' :-). Good shooting as always - one day I'd love to take quarry with a gun like yours, must be quite a thrill. Almost akin to driving a classic car with no power steering and crunchy gears rather than our modern cars that do it all themselves. LIke my HMR, HArdly any scope movement upon taking a shot I can watch it all happening through the scope - far too easy.

demonwolf444
so much fun to get out with the muzzle loader, that flinter, what caliber is she and whats your load.. trying to get a half decent load for my 14 bore, I think getting some properly fitted wads and over shot and powder cards will help considerably ( wads incorporated. ) will get them in a couple of weeks. Underdog
DW...it is .629" or 20g. Close stuff gets about 3/4oz of shot with a little less volume of powder. My standard is 1&1/8oz with a shade less powder volume wise. What diameter is your barrels? A leather punch maybe all you need! A 16mm does for me. Cards and old leather work fine. In the photo the rabbit was taken with three leather wads soaked in olive oil and a single overshot. I have bought some fibre wads but they are not mandatory and I shap them in half at that! demonwolf444
Used some 12 bore wads today.. just split them up and rammed them home. Didn't get a shot at anything, but seemed to have some more authority when i cleared the barrels.

Have you got plenty 12g wads? U.
