Prawn
Hi everyone, I am relatively new to pigeon shooting and when i went shooting yesterday, i didn't do too well with only my 9 flocked decoys. So i'm thinking of buying something that will create some movement to hopefully attract some birds in, which at the moment just flew around in the distance. So my question is in your opinions what device you think work well? A Flapper? http://aadecoys.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_61&product_id=89 A magnet? http://aadecoys.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_60&product_id=82 Or a pecker? http://aadecoys.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_61&product_id=75 Cheers, James
deny essex
All have their days and just maybe none of them would have made your bag any better, more the order of preference and money you want to spend, all the bits and pieces are tools , either or all of them may improve the bag on the day. Many shooters have a preference for the magnet , many have changed from the magnet to flappers or peckers, or a combination of them all not forgetting bouncers and floaters have their uses as well.. Movement without doubt can attract the pigeons attention, coupled with field craft and reading the birds reaction to your layout. Penelope
IMO, if you want a mechanical device. 1. Flapper. 2. Magnet. Bin. Pecker. The Essex Hunter
Brought a flapper....changed motor to 400 rpm (£7.00 for motor) works v well..... Made a rotary a long while ago, still going strong..... Movement outside the hide, with no movement inside the hide is the key.... Prawn
With flappers, are turbo charged flappers a lot better than normal flappers?

JDog
I have shot a few pigeons over my rotary over the last ten years or so that I have had it. Knowing when to take it in is as important as putting it out. Penelope brought a flapper last week which I thought worked very well.
Prawn
Thanks for the feedback. From what i have read, its all about the opinion and some people swear by their magnets and likewise others their flappers. In time i will try to invest in both but i will get a magnet first as they seem to attract birds which are flying quite far away. masmiffy
Best bit of kit I had, in its day, was a WAGBI Seamark manual flapper. Lent it to a 'mate' he did a runner with it was gutted. If anyone has one they dont want anymore let me know.

dead eye alan
My rotary was my best bit of kit up to last year when suddenly no birds would come to within 100 yards of it, posted several times last year that the flappers too started to scare birds away. Dead birds in cradles seemed best last year, but that was then and this is now could have all changed again by now. Was out on Saturday with both going and only managed 3 birds in 5 hours but that was 2 more than my previous outing. So make of that what you will it's just the way of the pigeon shooter.
