chrisjpainter
what ammo safes do people use? anything to recommend - or particularly avoid? If you saw my previous post about which S1 to go for, you'll know I'm not need something that will cater for a medium sized war, so nothing massive is needed. Many thanks Chris
kent
Firstly is this to support an existing safe without a lock box? If so do consider a second safe with a lock box, you can never have too much gun storage and it can be used for other things like laptops etc if your away. Many end up buying bigger safes over time
The Mighty Prawn
I've got the large Brattonsound ammo safe, ummed and aaghed for ages but ultimately get the biggest you can as over time you will fill it - also the extra space is great if you want to store bolts and mods etc away from guns
Mossyoak77
hello chris, can recommend brattonsounds pd7 stores more than enough next one up the SC2S is bit too big weighs 30kg too unless you have the space and its about 3x longer than pd7. peek-at
I just have a small safe from Argos for £30 which I bolted to the top of my gun safe and to the wall. FLO was happy with it! CLICK
chrisjpainter
The price is tempting with the Argos one. Does anyone else use them?

Cosmicblue
I've got a Brattonsound SC2S, did debate a bit before ordering it and have no regrets, its useful for securing other stuff on holiday too.
NickB65
Pop over to the Safe shop on line as they have some great deals - I was about to order http://www.thesafeshop.co.uk/products/A180BK.html as the fire arms chap this would do as I have plenty of space in the safe for the guns just need a separate ammo safe. cueball
Fortify KAL is good, built in shelves can be easily removed to allow for a 3 gun breakdown.
NickB65
If like men you have a gun safe but need an ammo safe for the .22lr or similar rounds then go for the Alpha A180BK as it will easily store 500 rounds and is easy to install and only £55 - fast free delivery as well. Gimlet
When I bought my 7 gun Brattonsound it was cheaper to buy one without the ammo locker and get a separate ammo safe. I bought a Sentry combination safe for £50. It typically holds 1000 mixed rimfire rounds and 500 mixed .22/.30 cal CF rounds no problem. If you've got several rifles its better to buy the biggest ammo safe you've got room for rather than buy something pokey just to save a few quid. Old melv
Nothing special about ammo safes made mine from a small hydraulic tank welded a hasp on for a padlock and put a cover over this to protect the hasp and padlock flo had no problem with this
