HDAV
As some of you may know i have been looking for a trap gun as i have been trying to shoot a bit of trap (DTL). Being a left handed shooter with limited budget it wasnt an easy task. They are out there and at the "right" money but fewer and further between than the more common Righthanded equivalent. So after months of either being just too slow "we sold that yesterday sir" or not having enough money i was getting really fed up. Thanks to the power of PW a had a PM from a member who had a bought a gun thinking it was straight as he was Right handed. but thought it may just be left handed (very straight stock to be fair) he sent me some pictures and we agreed to meet a shooting ground near me. The gun is very straight but has left hand palm swell (something my sporter does not have) so i tried the gun shot a line of DTL badly but it worked as described, was straight and in decent condition for 20 year old trap gun! So after a bit of negotiation we struck a deal and I celebrated by shooting another round of trap badly! I have since shot better with it, almost equalling my appalling PB twice! So anyway, thanks to everyone who helped I am now the proud owner of Miroku 3800 32" Trap gun Fixed choke at I think the original Full and 3/4 with some decent timber for a grade 1! Here are some pics I don't intend on doing much to the 3800 except a new recoil pad (the original one is pretty well used) It's going to be an isis pad not sure if its going to be a green or X-pad and pondering the adjustable one what do you think? Gordon R
Unusually good wood for the grade. You should be pleased with that.
HDAV
Thanks Gordon i am (except it makes the 525 [which i paid substantially more for] look like a plank!)
welshwarrior
Nice gun there I'd say that's better than grade 1 wood since worse on grade 3 guns. Just a shame it's not a Beretta ;-)

Scully
Very nice gun. I'd be well chuffed with that, and no gold trigger ! Edited February 24, 2014 by Scully

HDAV
I hope after all your tribulations you'll both be very happy together. Thanks phil it has taken a while but I'm happy with what i spent on it and i can afford plenty of carts to go with it. I'm going to need them. Despite being longer and heavier that the 525 it does feel lighter in the shoulder (better balance)

HDAV
A couple more picks to show the palmswell (just me reassuring myself it is left handed)
88b
I'm left handed but shoot a slightly right handed MK 38, only OU I've ever got on with. That is very nice wood for a grade 1. Edited February 24, 2014 by 88b

HDAV
NO but it does seem like the stock is from a different gun, what i don't know........
HDAV
Did you find out what it meant ? Well after a trip to the master to check the fit I am reliably informed that the stock looks like an Essevierre stock due to the chequering and the fact miroku never made a cast on 3800... This explains the quality of the wood and the palm swell, it doesn't have enough cast really for me, only real option to sort this is an adjustable comb.... If I get really into trap I might consider it or get a stock made (lottery win required)....

HDAV
Why don't you get the stock bent to the cast you want ? Can't bend a stock bolted gun enough I need the cast at the hand not the toe.
welshwarrior
HDAV you know the right man (in Somerset) to set up a trap gun he maybe able to adjust the heading if not an adjustable stock is a nice option.

Been and seen him, he says adjustable comb is the only option :( ...... Until then I'll just have to continue to manufacture the mount which i can at a pre mounted discipline... He was complimentary about the stock though and the gun

leftnright
Just had a stock 'hot oil cast for me by Rakers, did a really nice and very accurate job, did not even know it could be done, now i have a keeper in what i thought was going to be a gun for sale or major modification. cost little more than a slab of cartridges.( Its a Ruger, I thought it was stock bolted?)
