steve_b_wales
My good mate Paul (digit) made this adjustable stock for me. I needed this to allow me to attach my Cobra Merlin NV, to allow for the extra eye relief. The photo's show the stock closed, opened right out, and with my Cobra Merlin fitted. All I need to do now is to glue the rubber at the end of the stock, as I had to cut it to get at the butt plate screws. It's all highly polished, and any marks that can be seen are reflections. My grateful thanks to him for doing this for me. I wish I had half his talent! Thanks Paul.

kent
Looks ok, though were the metal to wood fit is off I should fit a spacer or cut the wood in and re-finish. Reason is it will have a tendency to chip off the lip. Its just about impossible to fit a pad so you don't get this without cutting in so no reflection on the work, its one reason why pads are made oversize (so you cut them in not the wood)

bicykillgaz
As I suggested as an option in quoted post Sorry mate, skim read the bit about cutting the wood in but missed the bit about a spacer.
steve_b_wales
christ steve you must have long arms, nice job though The photo shows the stock adjusted at it's furthest point. In use, it will extended approx 2 inches. Looks ok, though were the metal to wood fit is off I should fit a spacer or cut the wood in and re-finish. Its just about impossible to fit a pad so you don't get this without cutting in so no reflection on the work, its one reason why pads are made oversize (so you cut them in not the wood) There was a problem when the first one was made, as the base plate got ruined. My mate spent ages looking for another piece of aluminium, and managed to find a piece to complete the work, but was not perfect. I know there's a small 'lip' between the woodwork and metal, but I am looking for a nice piece of white/orange plastic to fit between them and reduce the 'lip'. Considering that it was made at no cost at all to me, I'm very pleased with the result. I have'nt the tools or skill to make it, so to say that I appreciate what Paul has done, is an understatement. The 'lip' between the stock and butt plate is approx. 1mm.

Of course, its a fine bit of work. I doubt its possible to fit such a thing without cutting it in to the wood to exact fit after attachment. The spacer is the way forwards, just fit it oversize and cut it back to the wood. I suggest a bit of 1/8" Ali plate and just finish the edges to a polish might look very nice and in keeping. To cut it in you wrap the wood in tape reducing the wraps to nil for the final fine polish BTW if you haven't done it before
digit
When i made the stock adjuster for Steve I went off the rubber butt pad as a pattern because I didn't have the stock of the rifle. I've got to make an other one for Steve's other rifle, so I'll be having his stock this time to make sure of a more accurate fit. We all learn by our mistakes Dont care what any one says its a very good bit on kit looks well made and simple to to use. I was out very early this morning with a pal who has nv on his rifle and dose not have out to extend his stock and i can tell you its a pain with a rear mounted nv. Dont know if you sell these but i would say if you did there would be people lining up for them including me
pestcontrol1
Steve what do you think to the cobra nv what sort of range can you shoot with it ( i might have the chance of one cheap)

steve_b_wales
Steve what do you think to the cobra nv what sort of range can you shoot with it ( i might have the chance of one cheap) The Cobra Merlin is an excellent bit of kit, but like 99% of add on NV's, you have to have an adjustable parallax scope to be able to see the scope's reticule in sharp focus. It can be used with a non 'pa' scope, and the reticule can be seen, especially against a fox sized target. I would also advise adding some extra IR 'light'. This will greatly increase the Cobra's range.

hawkeye
He just needs to know the make and model of the gun.. I just phoned him with the make of gun. He did send us a new one he was making and the butt end moved up and down as well as in and out this was not a good fit so we sent them back on the monday and asked him to replace them with the original ones he has on his site as we were not happy with the fit.. They were exchanged with in 5 days no problem and the new ones were a very good fit we are more than happy with them and the service we received. When we ordered them he did say he was trying a new type out and we would be the first ones to try them.. Our stocks are composite so we just took the rubber butt end off and screwed the extension piece in then screwed the butt pad back only took a few minutes real easy to do...
