Tony G
Had a day out on some fresh barley drilling today Myself,Rich P and another mate finished the day with 91 woodies and 22 crows But I've never seen so many of the little pigeons/rocks or whatever any one else's name is for them! Groups of up to 20 coming to the decoys lovely all day ! Could of been a big bag if they were all woodies !
DEADLY PLUMBER
I think you mean stock doves. I get a few on my permission. Only in the last few years. They are very like ferals.
motty
I have also seen a massive amount of blue rocks/stock doves on my last few outings - much more than I would normally expect to see.
Penelope
There appears to be a lot of Stock Doves about this year. I have seen quite a few on the drilled fields that border the M25 on my commute home.

Cosd
There does seem to be an abundance of stock doves at the moment. i went out last week and saw more stock's than woodies. 91 woodies is an excellent bag, well done!
pigeon controller
I reported before that one of my farms had a flock of at least two hundred stock doves, as I see it they have few enemies in the natural world and they have increased due to protection. kaunda
The recent increase in stock doves appears unexplained. They have been protected for many years, they are reported to breed in holes in old trees ( hence stock ) or in old buildings, but these have decreased in rural arrears due to tree disease, management and building developement. In the 1940s and 50s they were rarely found and to locate a nest and eggs was an event.Nowadays there are very many, but no reports of increased nests ( probably due to a lack of small boys who prefer their I-pads to nesting).Nothing is written about migration.Another of nature's mysteries, or is it ?.
