Had a great few days stalking, got into some reds but the shot was sky lined ,so just came away with the roebuck after a quarter of a mile stalk on our bellies , also a pic of a young red stag getting cleaned up and Sunday dinners for the next few weeks. im going to skin it and butcher it tomorrow

I'm hooked !!!!! Dsc1 is being booked soon, I can feel a 6.5mm x 55mm,rifle variation going in soon ha ha ,

Edited for mark ( give the novice a break mate ha ha)

Were you in Scotland ? As Red deer are out of season so made no difference that the shot was skylined ...........

The guides I was with had special licences to shoot reds as part of a cull, managing the deer for various forestry depts.( only calfs and young bucks were to be taken as part of the management cull)

well shot mate you look over the moon :) does become very addictive, I'd try for a 6.5x55 ;)

Cheers lads,

It all just felt right, what a belting environment to hunt in, really special a true privelage totally primeval and majestic hunting in forests,we really had to work to "get into " the deer, that's why it's deer stalking and not deer shooting. We got about 55 metres away from the reds, absolutely amazing ,

Mark, ok smart ***** a 6.5mm x 55mm ha ha ha,

Rimfire, the surroundings is what it is all about mate, it's been a dream of mine for years to hunt in a forest / ancient landscape, as soon as I have my dsc 1 I'm joining a syndicate up there mate,
