Evil Elvis
I have rats running a regular path under my decking A do snares work for rats? B where can I get some?
kent
A lot of law has changed from when I last did this, though I used spring set snares that lifted the rat off its feet. You will need to check the legality today. BTW poison and regular Fen mk4 in tunnels seem to work just fine for most of us. The only reason I ever did this is my landlord liked to see them strung up round his stores, it showed the job was being done if you like. Deffo get some blue food down IMO
henry d
I wouldn`t use poison near the house unless totally unavoidable. Fenn traps are good once they get used to seeing then using the tunnels etc.

henry d
Not so good when they die under the shed/deck/elsewhere and stink the place out.
JohnFreeman1310
A risk of rats dying in spots you can't reach I worked at a pace and we had a huge rat die in a section of roof in the warehouse it stunk in the summer.
EMcC
I have made rat snares by using a few strands from an ordinary rabbit snare. We used to put them in the rat runs around the ricks, held with a bendy stick so that when snared they hung clear of the rick.

ack-ack
Evil elvis. Why dont you leave condoms set as snares so when ratty barrels through he suffocates? (I hope this helps)
fortune
We had Rats coming into the works and we used a cage trap. I dispatched the first one with an air rifle and after that no rats would go in the trap until it was steam cleaned so there must have been some fear smell on it. That rat didn't half squeal when we aproached the trap. and that was before I shot it.

pycoed
I've used snares I made from brass picture wire to catch rats coming into a chicken coop. It was easy to snare the holes in that situation & the snares worked well. My aged terrier did lose a couple of front teeth shaking one against the stapled wire though! the crowman
Evil elvis. Why dont you leave condoms set as snares so when ratty barrels through he suffocates? Dekers
Can't use poison I haves 7 dogs thanks taxi driver I have 2 fen traps but means lifting thedecking, I thought snares as I can see the ********** running under the path, I was thinking if treble hooks on pike wire but they'd bite thier way off The world is full of dogs, and so are the many farms, etc that use poisons for rats. Properly laid bait will have no effect on dogs.
