Couple with the 410

Popped to some ripening barley last night in the never ending search for some pigeon shooting.

I decided to take the 410 out with me as the field involves a bit of a walk.

Although the pigeons are not hitting the field hard at the minute they are definately starting to show an interest.

As i entered the field around 30 or so pigeons lifted from a sity tree in the middle of the field.

I headed for the tree and sat and watched the field for a while.

With in no time pigeons were returning and heading for the tree. I managed to shoot a few but unfortunately i only took 4 shell as i was only expecting the odd shot.

There seemed to be a good few birds passing over the field and with decoys i am sure a bag of some sort could be made there. I will watch it closely for the rest of week and possibly have a session at the end of the week.

I was quickly reminded what a joy the little 410 is to shoot and also what this little cartridge is capable of.

The last shot resulted in a dead in the air pigeon at 42yds.

Well done :good:

The 410 is a great walkabout gun when looking for feeding birds and very under estimated IMHO

Totally agree there magman. The lesser shot noise from them is a bonus too. I would use mine more often but the cheapest shells i can get are £6 a box against £4 12 bore. :/
