rich1985
Managed to secure myself a new permission today. Field of barley getting hammered by rooks and jackdaws next to my work. I saw the land owner walking round the field looking not too happy so thought I would have a chat, mentioned that I could get up there tomorrow and hammer them and his face lit up! Very happy! Can't wait to get amongst the vermin tomorrow!

rich1985
Well here we go... Went up new permission at about 5pm, was hoping to get up there earlier but the mrs gave me a list of jobs to do before I was allowed out to play, lol. Plenty of rooks about and even a few pigeons on the knocked down barley. Got my hide made and put the 2 decoys I had out. Before I had any cartridges in the gun the first bird, a jackdaw was over my decoys, missed it first 2 barrels but killed it nice with the 3ed. Birds came steady for a couple hours and thankfully I shot better overall than how I started. Ended up with 53 mixed rooks and jackdaws and 1 wood pigeon, not a bad result. Farmer will be pleased!! Can't wait to get amongst the vermin tomorrow! That's the best time to talk to a farmer about vermin control - When he can see all the damage that pests and vermin are doing to his crops. Always remember the saying - "Strike while the iron is hot! Well done on getting the permission mate!
RED BEARD
Sounds like he should be well pleased, good result for a first visit. And the best thing about it being near work you'll know exactly whats about.
