fenboy
Following on from my reccy thread yesterday, I was up and down the field at 6.30 , to be honest I would have liked to have been earlier but as there are one or two house reasonably nearby I thought I would let the occupants have a lay in When I got to the field there were already a good few corvids and several pigeon in residence . So quickly got the hide set up in the field , 15 pigeon decoys out and 6 crow off to one side. Only just got the gun loaded and a jackdaw was straight into the pattern and was dropped , things kept ticking over without ever getting hectic but the pigeon failed to really show up , I think later afternoon would have been better for them . Things dried up completely at about 10am , I finished with 18 jackdaws , 8 rooks 5 crows and 6 pigeon . I do not do much corvid shooting and as far as I can remember thats perhaps my best ever bag Not done for the day yet as will soon be off to have a go on some cabbage there were a few pigeon on yesterday evening. No pic this time as I managed to forget to take my phone. Edited June 21, 2014 by fenboy
aga man
Well done fenboy, nothing like a bit of corvid shooying to sharpen you up. Shame you can't intercept a flightline either to or from the barley field. Sounds like thats where the pigeons are.

Trouble is all the fields that surround it are grown up , the barley itself where its laid is only about 50 yards from a house and 10 from the road. Very frustrating, we have similar fields at the minute with numbers building nicely. just not feasible to try and shoot though. Good luck on the cabbages

Big Mat
You might not be able to sell them, but those jackdaws/crows will give a good bit of practice ready for the fowling season! I've got a magpie problem at home at the moment, but they are too wearing for the air gun and although i want to test the new shotgun, i dont think they neighbours will like it!
