lloydi73
Does anybody know of any companies out in the States that export here to UK....I'm after a Tikka T3 Lite Synthetic Stock SS .243 calibre and they're only $599 out there about £480....where as here in good old Blighty they are £950...... figgy
Think the taxes proofing and paperwork with shipping usually mitigates any savings. Figgy Edited September 3, 2014 by figgy

rbrowning2
As Figgy states, leaving to one side it is a gun which will add to the pain, you will find the shipping to be expensive, then you have to pay the UK end shipper to collect the VATand then the shipper adds the VAT to the total. So any savings will be a lot less than you expect and if you have any need to repair it under warranty then as a grey import the UK distributor will probably tell you to walk. aris
Indeed - you pay 20% VAT on both the item being imported and the shipping cost. Anything over 350 quid you pay duties too. This is for any item - not just guns.
casts_by_fly
Hi Lloyd, I'm not sure where you got your exchange rate figure from, but $599 is much closer to £375 than £480. If you could have found an exporter to work with, this case might have been one where it starts to make sense importing the gun. A base price of £375 plus an estimated $300 for shipping and export permit is roughly £560. Add VAT and import (20%+~2%) and an RFD fee on this side (£50) puts you around £735 which is £150 cheaper than noted above. Whether you want all of that hassle to save £150 is another matter, but with the exchange rate as currently (1.6+) and the difference in prices it is about the point to start thinking about it. thanks, rick

casts_by_fly
It looks like a duralyte is about $1100 in the US, so when you factor that into the equation the scope plus rifle seems to be coming in at £1575, so not a savings over the package at 1600 you've found. rick

chesterse
Have a look at Borderview.com. I brought a Beretta semi in through them and it all worked very well but took about three months from start to finish.
