turbo33
Not sure of what was happening on the farm since last weekend, I thought I'd pop down this morning to see if there was anything on offer. Threw the decoy gear in the truck, along with the 410 hushy with some 18grm subs, and the 12g with some 32grm home loads. Thought that should cover all angles Two of the fields were drilled last week, nothing on those. Most of the rest were sprayed off, sporting that yellow hue So one to go. It was a wheat field, still in stubble, and not sprayed yet. Still, there was very little in the sky, save for a couple of crows cruising round the far end. I arrived at the field at 10.30, and watched for about 40 mins. A few more joined them. So it was going to be a crow day I settled for a spot under, but 6 feet out from the trunk of a large oak. I parked the truck a few hundred yards away, and cut a few sprigs on the way back to the hide to dress it a bit. Happy with that, I put 3 FB deeks out, 2 beak down and one on a wire hanger to give movement. I find 3 works well, more than that and they seem to smell a rat!! I started with the 12g as a bit of insurance, to get a few birds, to add to the pattern After about six or seven bit the dust with the 32grm loads, I swapped over to the 410 Husher. There is something immensely satisfying about being successful with a little gun that just goes pop There was a marked difference in the behaviour of the birds between the two guns, the Husher obviously less disturbing. They returned/came in far quicker between shots At 2pm, it all stopped, so I packed up with 26 down The hide The Bag Leave it as you found it Edited September 13, 2014 by turbo33
