The Mighty Prawn
I'm contemplating piling all my stuff by the back door so I don't forget anything in excitement... It's a 0900 start so setting the alarm for 0730 Packing a slab so I won't run out - this will probably last all season but you never know... wingnut
I joined a small syndicate this year, and its our 1st shoot tomorrow done plenty of beating for the past few years -- I am really looking forward to being on the other side of the hedge / woodland this time. Bring it on-- just hope I don't make any cock ups-- as I remember the verbal we used to give the guns if they missed
KFC
We've got a walk one, stand one, cocks only boundaries day on the 11th when the shoot captain will take one team and I'll take the other. Our first full syndicate day is 25th. As keeper I lead the beaters for the season so I won't normally get another gun 'til beater's day at the end of the season. It suits me as, although I enjoy a Pheasant day, I prefer Pigeon shooting. It's nice to dress up though so I've got my breeks and garters washed ready and I've polished up my O/U for the 11th. It's been really hard work this season and it's only a small plot so I hope we manage to hold on to the birds for the season. Amazing how quick it comes round. Hope everyone has a good and safe season

The Mighty Prawn
So after getting up way earlier than I needed to the first day has been something of a damp squib, just 7 pheasant and a duck for our troubles. To be fair it was chucking it down in the morning and in the afternoon the sun was out and it got warm which is why there is still so much food in the woods so I think a big part of lack of birds today is they are still spread thin and not around the feeding spots. I fired just one shot, at a duck, I missed - still have 249 steel carts to use! Roll on a fortnight

Scully
Two shoots I'm involved with and neither actually start until first week of Nov! Ditto; a lot of immature birds around on ours just yet due to late broods.

DazzJo
Well I'm in two syndicates 1 Sydicate I shoot once a month for 6 months but shoot twice in November. Then the other Sydicate which I have 1/2 gun in is every other week but doesn't start till end of the month. So doing some clay shooting throughout the month to "keep me eye in" haha
