ditchman
Have a fairly flat conservertory roof, which i have stupidly power washed off and have upset the seal between the roof supports and the seal -to-plastic sheet...........as a result it is starting to leak ! what i intend to do is wash the roof down with water and fairy liquid ...let it dry and lay ladders across the roof (to spread the weight) and run clear silicon beads down either side of the supports.... QUESTION.... Do i need to wipe the bead-support-plastic sheet down with a solvent of some sort, to get a good bond...if so what sort of solvent ! ?? cheers
belly47
I have used a product called CT1 many times on conservatories, I usually get it from travis perkins, just make sure you don't pay the full price as its not cheap, with a bit of haggling you could get 50 % off as I did when buying half a dozen tubes a while ago it can be used when surfaces are wet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0Lcc0WZAqo im sure others will suggest different products but that's what I have used Edited October 13, 2014 by belly47

flynny
Tap down cover/capping beads more (if upvc roof bars) you will hear them click in, common fault after cleaning, failing that new gasket/rubber to capping bead, sealing with Ct1 is an option on timber and upvc conservatory roofs but will eventually leak again in time. Do it properly and take roof panels out and put new gaskets in. I have not seen your roof type/style but IMO do it right first time, also check drainage channels in roof bars (if ally or upvc) these could be gunked up with moss / algae etc, Atb Flynny

bear-uk
The last awkward conny roof that I sealed was done from the inside. Any water that is getting past the outer seal should run down the channel that the sheet is on and into the gutter. As above regarding taking it to bits, but easier in the summer. blasterjudd
If you use silicone ensure you wash it down and dry it thoroughly then wipe the areas to be sealed up with some methylated spirits let it dry again then apply silicone. Make sure it's a nice dry and warm day when you do it otherwise the silicone may not set properly? You may need to drill out the bottom of the glazing bar end cover caps if they have them so it allows water to drain out of the bottom of the bars. As this might be the issue if it's all bunged up and water trapped inside the glazing bars particularly a common problem that is seen after blasting it down and will no longer self drain? Thus now leaking ! Good luck with it. Edited October 15, 2014 by blasterjudd

Paddy Galore!
as long as it evaporates without melting the plastic ditchman, other than silicone, which is a pain in the rear if you get a bit of wet under it sika flex is really good stuff, comes in colours too, and sticks to wet. loriusgarrulus
Our snakebite was tame in comparison. Was bitter and cider. The gentlemen of the road used to drink meths and cider.
