One of the lads managed to drop a snipe while out for a rough shoot I have never shot a sniper since I cant tell the difference between them

How big is a common?

Common is similar size to say a turnstone, Jacks are smaller more the size of a Dunlin

(common) snipe 10 inches loud creeching call when flushed and zig zag flight

Jack snipe 7 inches usually doesnt call when flushed no white in tail shorter bill than common, is quicker to land into cover when flushed

 

we get a lot up here but the common is more common!

As has already been said apart from the size difference jack snipe normally drop back down rather quickly whereas the common snipe will zig zag upwards.
