Some of you may remember me saying that I was going to give up stalking as I no longer wanted to shoot deer any more . Well today I sold my rifles to a local dealer and no longer own a long gun .

This decision was not knee jerk ,but has taken me a couple of years to make up my mind to bow out of stalking . As I was not enjoying stalking as I used too I have made the decision to stop hunting deer as from today .

Not all doom and gloom , the money from the sale of the rifles is going towards a nice browning, beretta or miroku shot gun .

If any body is interested I have every thing you need to reload .308 ,including a lee 4 stage press . The only thing I don't have is brass cases as they have gone to my shooting buddy . I have literally every thing else . Any body interested please PM me . I will not split the gear up and want to sell it as a job lot face to face only .

Don't worry ,they will be well catered for . I have the exclusive shooting over about 3 thousand acres farmed by a friend of mine . I have never been under pressure to cull deer in all the time I have been shooting the farms . Deer were shot as and when necessary when they were causing damage on the farms or when we wanted some fresh venison . Any problems with the deer from now on will be sorted by a couple of good old boys . Who knows I will proberbly go out with them to show them the way .

When i was abroad, i had a liecence to take a certain number of animals every month to feed my road crews,...to supplement their meat ration....i always hunted with 2 guns in the bush...as there was always the chance , whilst you were hunting , something was hunting you !.....we recovered the animals with a unimog and got the heck out of the place , as it was always crawling with tetse fly.............i did enjoy it as i knew it was sustainable and everything was eaten including the marrow !

i shot a deer ...a big red in norfolk many years ago...it was a clean shot....and when i arrived where it lay, i was filled with remorse !!...and have never shot another since then....i have several friends who care passionately about their deer shooting ...and i love to hear tales of their exploits.........but i could never do it again...........

and yet when i have a good days pigeon shooting i am so pumped up with adrenelin weird that !....

i hope you find a niche to slot into ...clays or decoying

all the best
