I know exactly what you mean. I have a number of permissions that border towns and the amount of times i've come up with the semi tame theory, they come direct from housing estates in 1s 2s straight into the decoys low across the field. However have other permissions very very remote and see 5x the numbers but they flock up this time of year and with the 10s of 0000's of acres of food out there they just move on. When the beans or peas go in however they cannot resist, or the milky laid barley, first field of cut rape!

They always flock up this time of year and break up during the spring and summer.

Very much doubt i will get a red letter day. This is out in the countryside and nowhere near any large town to shoot the semi tame town pigeons some shoot. But it makes it more of a challenge and no matter what i get i enjoy it.

I usually set up with a few park benches scattered around the crop, then leave some old people on them. That usually attracts the semi tame town ones, waiting for the pensioners to feed them.

:good: The birds would decoy to a couple of squirrels on a rotary. You could even wear a white suit or some a clown outfit.

I would retract that statement as some on here will imply that you are in favour of putting bait down for pigeons.

But that is for another time. ;)

Speaking as one of those pensioners I can confirm that whenever I walk into a field all the pigeons and crows leave, I don't know if its the creaking bones, wheezing chest or the shotgun under my arm but something upsets them, roll on the afterlife, I've been told I will have 20 virgins to carry my gear for me, Yipeee :rolleyes:

It appears this is aimed at me. If people can't handle a bit of debate or people asking a question or two, then they shouldn't bother posting in the first place.

Not a friendly forum , your having a laugh , I have never been a member of a forum where there are so many people helping each other out in various different ways .

Things given away free , days out shooting given free , help and advice on just about any subject you can think of shooting related or not , money raised for loads of different charitys , loads of posts of support for people having hards times for various different reason , the list is almost endless.

Could you give us a link to the posts where you have been ignored ?

Could you point out where on this thread anyone has done anything other than have a different opinion than someone else or where there is a "click" at play ?

Not knocking anyone with this post, but I have found that a couple of permissions I have bordering built up areas the pigeons do seem to decoy a bit easier in the winter on rape than permissions not near built up areas. Don't notice much difference in warmer months though but it is generally easier then.

I doubt you'll get much of a response to this post. I have no idea why some people seem to have to throw the toys out of the pram when you disagree with them or question what they have posted. I can and will justify/back up every post I make on this site. Too many others either can't or won't. As I've said before, i'm all for an adult, reasoned debate, shame more folk can't be like that.

By the way, I agree that this is a pretty friendly forum. I've took a few people shooting as a direct result of being a forum member and made friends, too. Long may that continue.

Myself i think and this is just my opinion. That a good few more shooters know it as fact but some just cannot come to admit it.Because it would not do their ego any good as they want folks to think they are mustard at shooting pigeons.

I dont get it. In the "pigeon" section 9 times out of 10 is a question or advice wanted. So people give an answer or advice. Yea it may be to the point or might even be what you dont want to hear but when a question or advice is wanted it will get answered. Yea looks like this is aimed at you motty but...... Atleast you say it how it is. Id rather be straight to the point. Anyway hope you have a good day on the maze pigeonblasterian.
