steve_b_wales
I've just come off the phone from one of my local RFD's. I wanted to price a new CZ 527 in the above caliber, and he informed me that CZ no longer make this anymore, and neither do other companies like Remington. I think he's wrong though. Any thoughts? wymberley
Steve, If you have trouble sourcing one, sometime back Dennis of UK Gun Repairs was thinking of selling his which he'd blue printed. It was a while ago, but if you're stuck it may be worth a phone call. If I remember it included a moderator and a very good scope.
steve_b_wales
It's a bit of a dead calibre amd most I see are customs or old, somehow not shot out remis although I think Swillington have one in if i remember rightly from last time I was there, last week? Yes. I read their advert on Guntrader. Steve, If you have trouble sourcing one, sometime back Dennis of UK Gun Repairs was thinking of selling his which he'd blue printed. the enigma
I think Kimber might still chamber rifles in 17rem.

casts_by_fly
Pretty sure Savage offer it in many of their models. Now getting one here may be another story. Personally, I'd probably find a donor action or project base rifle and have it rebarreled. rick
steve_b_wales
The LVSF looks a fair buy, i could have gone and had a look at it for you today but too late now today. I am going in next thursday though. If be very sure you can get ammo brass and bullets too before i get carried away! Dies too Thanks for the offer. I can't buy one until my licence is renewed in May,unless I paid to have this calibre added. To be honest, I'm now having second thoughts, and will have to think carefully what to do. Sako7mm
Cooper still chamber for it, I believe. I may sell my Sako 75 in it....
Rem223
Looking at Remington's web site it looks like they are only chambering for the 17 Fireball now. I thought they were dropping that chambering last year, but maybe they changed their mind? When I bought my 700 in 2001 17 Remington chambered rifles were thin on the ground then, so I bet they are even harder to find now. Sako 75's in 17 Rem were like rocking horse droppings. A Cooper would be nice, but pretty expensive and you would probably have to wait months to get hold of one. The LVSF would be an excellent choice if the price is right and if you need some 17 rem brass PM me. Personally if it were me I would look at a .204 Ruger. A lot easier to find components and rifles chamered for this now.

I want a calibre that will be suitable for 'long range (300+) yards shooting of Corvids.
