Ollieollie
Was out this morning after crows for the 1st time, had 12 all together despite the presence of hundreds of them in the area. Is 12 a good number? First time and all. They really are a switched on bird who to begin with completely out smarted me. A couple of tweeks and I managed the 12. I had a good hide with roof, was still until the last minute. I have decided on the next location of the hide and I think this will bag me a greater tally but in the meantime do you guys have any pointers for me?? Cheers Ollie

B725
I have found that if you can set up before first light they keep coming in make sure you have no white bits on show( hands and face),get your self a primos crow caller and what ever decoys you can get hold of even flat board cut outs work well do not move untill the very last second.12 is a good start. superspark
Any number is a good amount. These birds are very smart and can be hard to decoy if they see you or movement of any kind. Other days they will just seem to be on a suicide mission where you can kill a good number. I have found over the years not to expect to shoot a set number but just see how the day pans out. WelshMike
Well done mate 12 is a good start as the guys have all said. The issue you find is the higher the number you shoot the higher your expectation and that isnt the way it works. I picked up a new permission with a fair few crows having only shot a few over the years. Have had over 450 in the last 4 months (not a big number for some) with the best outing of 62 and some 1s or 2s. As long as you enjoy yourself and have some good shooting that is the main things. 10 challenging crows shot are better then 20 easy ones in my opinion as it shouldnt be a numbers game. Keep up the good work

ShootingEgg
Best day on crows ive had was 75, but that was a full 8 hour shoot. Most days on a friends farm its under 20 but they will turn at about 100 yrds, they arent stupid. I look at it that over say 5 shoots I've bagged close to 100 so every little helps.... Redditch
Some days I will get just one or two, other days one or two hundred. It depends on what crops are about, whether they are flying or not, and whether they are hungry, or not. The main thing is, you are out and enjoying the countryside. The best bags are when they've just had their young fly, as the young don't know. What danger is, and still fly in despite watching their friends drop like bricks. I always find the best time of day is very early mornings, set up before first light, and catch them when they are looking for that morning feed, and still half asleep
