I have never set up in the middle of a field before, after reccying my new perm over the last few days the crows seemed to like hitting the center of this particular drilled field.

So manged to secure the hide poles to a telegraph pole in the center of the field and had ropes everywhere holding down the poles/netting. My father chose to set up with a treeline to his back which gave him some protection...but not much,it was blowing an absolute gale and continued all day however the sun came out...happy days.

The crows/Jd's were giving us some sport but to my surprise no pigeons until after 1 o'clock. Dad had a cracking double and my first followed soon after.

Pigeons didn't want to decoy however had a couple of really challenging high birds which was worth setting up for.

My Father's Pb was 18 before today....he finished on 29 (I had 39) and right big grin on his face..quality days sport....AND ONE WE WILL BOTH REMEMBER FOR A VERY LONG TIME

To be honest..I shot like a right plonker, this was my first real go with the new Semi Auto... (I think its shooting low :hmm: )..I would have shot more with my old 425.

Fenboy you still got that old knackered 325 for sale... :whistling:

I actually used it today for the first time in ages and had 12 for 12 !

Some people just do not get on with auto's but I love them.

A good day out for both of you by the sound of things. It might be worth getting a pattern plate out for the semi......mine did exactly the same when I first used it (mine is an SX3). I'm not saying I'm great with it now but a shim removed seemed to make all the difference.

Bet your dad is well chuffed with his ratio!
