bakerboy
I have a number of batteries and 1 is playing up and I cannot workout why, so over to the PW Brain Tank. The battery is a Yucel 12 volt 1.2Ah C20 It is about 5 years old and charged and used on a regular occurrence. On occasion I will run the battery very low before re charging as I do with the many other batteries. This battery is showing a 9 Volt charge, will usually show 10/11 it will not show a higher charge at the moment If I connect it to my Flapper nothing happens, if I connect another battery to the same flapper, the flapper works, even with a battery that is running lower than 9 Volts. I will now sit back and await suggestions and solutions. Ps I am very close to a re cycling bin. This could be one for Webber to sort out for me

vmaxphil
you need to put a small load about 5 watts across the battery, then measure the voltage to see the true state of it. a 12v 5w lamp should be ok

oliver90owner
''It is about 5 years old and charged and used on a regular occurrence.'' Probably charged and discharged to its design, or beyond. They do not last forever. Recycle it. Even security system batteries, on float charge, are changed out before this age. fenboy
Yep sooner or later they all die , they are not infinitely rechargeable , I have just had to replace a 18 amp / hr one which also has lasted about 5 years.

I'll put them on charge and if any good they're yours. I'll go and put first one in charge now and will let you know tomorrow if it's any good. webber
There are some numbers stamped into the top of the casing. Send the numbers to me. I will deduce how old the battery is. If its around 5 years old it's finished and should be recycled. Regards webber

Bigbob
I had the same problem i get loads of batterys threw the sparkies at work who get them for me from the alarm engineers when they come to replace them . Ie there replaced on a time scale some have never been used as they only cut in if theres a power cut . Anyway ive about fifteen and my son says bin them and buy a luthium battery , but i bought a voltmeter and there showing power into the high twelves so i will be holding on to them at the moment but you have to accept there no going to last forever and at five years if it was giving me problems i would bin them with out asking questions
