lakeside1000
I have a .410 hush but even that can be too much when you are in the trees, I prefer the air rifle, very effective at close quarters and quiet enough not to disturb other birds , one thing I did find is the hide has to be extra good with a decent roof as the birds are looking straight down into your hide, also absolute minimum movement when sighting up, their eyesight in the shaded areas under the tree canopy is fantastic, my best day in the wood, 11 birds in 3 hours. around harvest time. Whitetail
The shooting you have sounds very similar to some of mine , copses and belts of trees in fenland. They can be a real magnet at times because there's very little choice if the birds want to roost locally. I use a fac air rifle most of the time because you will find that if you use a shotgun with any regularity you will have very few pigeons using them. I've found that if you don't shoot too late into the evening and let some birds come into roost you will keep birds using the copses for another evening . Good luck
