sishyplops
Hi all , I'm picking up a silver pig 20g tomorrow that will be used by my lad and myself, I like 30" barrels but the gun is 28" fixed choke , it will be perfect for him but I wondered whether 30" multichoke barrels will fit or do they have to be fixed choke as well? (I'm not fussed about chokes but it broadens my search) Many thanks Richard Edited June 9, 2015 by sishyplops
vmaxphil
I think you will find most guns need some hand fitting
fenboy
I think you would be lucky to get a second set of barrels to fit perfectly without some work .
TIGHTCHOKE
Your best bet would be to contact Chris Potters in Tunbridge Wells in order to see if he has any 30 inch 20 bore Beretta barrels. Multi-choke or fixed-choke barrels should fit, but as said above, they will require the attention of a good gunsmith to set them and adjust the fit of the forend and the timing of the ejectors. Good luck
archi
From past experience you will probably find it cheaper to buy another used gun that to order a new set of barrels Was the case when I looked into it
sishyplops
Sorry chaps perhaps my post is not to clear, I want to know if multichoke barrels will fit onto a fixed choke gun, as the centre rib is often wider to accommodate the choke tubes, so my question is, is the action different on a multichoke gun to a fixed choke model, I am aware that gunsmith fitting will be required and of the costs involved Many thanks
Westward
Beretta doesn't make different actions for fixed choke guns which means the breech and monobloc will be the same. I strongly doubt they have different side ribs and barrel spacing too. Why not contact Nigel Teague? He knows more about chokes and barrels than anyone. welshwarrior
The barrels are interchangeable as long as the actions are the same spec. Ie both narrow actions etc. I expect your son is shorter than you at the minute so you'll be looking for a spare stock as well by the time you've bought a stock and barrels had the later fitted to the action it would cost around the same as a second hand gun. sishyplops
You are probably right Daf, it may be a bridge too far to go for barrels as well, so i will probably just look for a stock Thanks everyone
woody walloper
28inch barrels. multi choke. 2inch external chokes = 30inch then flush fitting chokes for the boy.
