Polar Orbit
Hi All, very kindly just been given a whole can of Nobel Glasgow 82 (500gm yellow can) in vague hope of using it for heavy loads for 12g. Ordered a used copy of "Nobel glasgow powders for the handloader" off Amazon for some detail. (£3.24, not bad). Recognising this is old stuff you can't get anymore, and that I'm tinkering with a Loadall & small quantities of cartridges, has anyone got any pearls of wisdom gained from years of earlier experience with this stuff? I'm not too sure this will meter reliably as it seems a bit bulky and may not work so well with Lee's plastic bushes. Also, I can't find grains data for 82 in Lee bushes. I'm looking for the biggest lead load I can get into a 70mm PT case as possible. Any Guidance gratefully received. Thanks, Polar.
wigeon jim
My old lee load all bushing chart says the biggest bush number 198 is 22.6 of Nobel 82. Some old data I have has some 1 1/4oz loads. Jim.
Vince Green
Good powder in its day, I think I have still got some somewhere.I don't think it is particularly a heavy load powder Ounce and a quarter was I think the biggest. dipper
Most of the loads for NG 80 are with old componants .You will find you will need to go LV to get loads over 1/14 ie 1/12 find a copy of cartridge loading by David Garrard quite a few loads in there.Dipper. Continental Shooter
It a very good powder you got there, lotsof manufacturer used the NG for their factory loads. my tin suggests Sur 615, la dose 1,60/1.70 x 32 - 34 grams raising to 1.65 - 1.75 when using fibre wads. However, in my experiments, the one that had the best results was assembled as such Fiocchi 615 1.70 x 34.5 gr #7 (EU) Gualandi
