WelshMike
Be gentle on me guys...... There seems to be a shortage of pigeons in many areas. Whilst there are not a lot of pigeons where I live and shoot I normally have a few days a year where I will shoot 30-50 in a sitting. Whilst that is poor in comparison to the large bags posted on here I am happy to get a bit of sport. I decided to call past one of the farms on my way home as they have ploughed 30-40 acres of barley stubble in leaving a couple of fields (less choice). There were 20-30 pigeons on the field and a few flighting in every now and again. Now many people wouldnt bother but I fancied a couple of hours with the gun. Off home to get the kit. I set up the hide in front of a pile of bales stacked in the field with a horseshoe pattern consisting of 10 half shells, 3 full bodied deeks and 5 frozen birds. My shooting was shocking to start off with missing the first 3 birds. Managed to get my eye in and had a quiet but enjoyable 2 hours ending on 17 and 1 crow. Lost one bird over the hedge into some standing wheat. The majority of the birds were breasted out this morning apart from the couple that got hit at about 8 yards which I left for the fox. If I can manage this there is hope for all of us havnt a clue what they are...............we have nuthin like that around here................ good job you didnt say that they were stock doves...i would have to remove the post pretty quick. pigeon controller
Well done great result, when you talk of numbers , you can only shoot what's there . So if you see a field with fifty on it and none joining and you shoot forty then that proves you can decoy and shoot well as that would be a great result to. Since I shot so few I didnt think I would need to put the yellow numbers in

norfolk dumpling
Ditch man, you are of course having a laugh I hope. We are seeing huge numbers here in Sth Norfolk. Early morning, late afternoon thousands pass my house with several hundred dropping into a huge wood which runs for half a mile alongside the river Chet. Sadly I'm not allowed to shoot wood. Part of a big shoot.
