pat g
Looking for some opinions on a decent scope mounted light that can be used on sub 12 air, 22lr and my HMR possibly even on the 243. I've been looking at the night master nm800 and also been looking at the t50 and t67 packages. I have a cluson club lite but want something a little less cumbersome and lighter. A recent new permission will involve some lamping on foot and also from the truck. Anyway all advice and recommendations appreciated. Thanks, ATB, Pat
Davyo
The NM800 is just unbeatable but expensive,I have that,,T38 & T50,for the money they are good.T50 will suite the 243 but you can tell the difference with the NM800.The T67 in like mounting a house brick on your rifle so stay clear of that. boo
Lamping with an led! If using white ( xlm or similar led ) you can use a large aspheric for throw as the die size is quite large, if using colour, red , green etc probably best led is the xpe-2 , wouldn't go past a 50mm lens size , as the projected die size will be to small to be uaseful. The NM800 nice bit of kit but overly expensive for what it actually is, the t67 single or double body is a bit of a beastie in size, the T50 on the other hand is really useful tool.Dont forget the humble T20, cheap as chips and an ideal torch to use or modify. Problem with all these is a lack of a full dimmer to use lamping, that's were you go custom! As a pure lamp, the sst90 in red or white is something tobehold behind a 78mm aspheric, makes a lightforce look like a candle.A lot will depend on what ranges you hope to shoot at especially the 243..... kent
You don't want as much of a light on s 12 ft lb Airgun as you do on s 243. Too much light is very counter productive when you need to get close and a small led torch might be ideal At night especially in poor weather out foxing with a 243 you should be better off with a far greater power capable of say 200 yards clear visibility I don't think one light and s dimmer works so well as two one for each job
pat g
Thanks for the replies. Davyo i think i'm leaning towards the night master NM 800 mate. Just wanting something that i can swap from Sub 12 air, 22lr and Hmr really. Mainly for bunnies. It would rarely be used on the 243 tbh. I intend going over to NV possibly next year and thought i could fit an IR to the NM800. Any thoughts? Thanks ATB, Pat
Davyo
Yep, order an additional neck with IR,AGAIN EXPENSIVE,but worth it.Ive just bought a Pulsar N750 after years of playing about with home builds.Got it strapped th the 243 and it's brilliant. The build in lazer is pants but using Nm800 it's unreal.Ok also with the T50 but the NM800 is just cleaner & tighter. Cheers Davyo. Can i ask about the modes on the NM800. Does this function act like a dimmer? How are you getting on with the Howa 1500 by the way? Davyo
I use a rats tail switch, lightly press and you go through modes. If left for a few seconds it remembers the last mode. The 1/4 twist neck thing the only downfall but I just marked the position with a bit of tipex. The Howa is great,it's using cheap Winchester 90gr rounds £13 a box & groups at 1inch high at 100 mtrs.Shot 7 foxes in the first 2 weeks with it, but only had 2 with the N750 fitted, plenty seen but simply no safe shot.Thinking of popping out about midnight tonight for a few HRS. Thanks, ATB, Pat hello, i use a T38 with red led and I/R on my sub 12 air rifles I/R with a photon,. i now have my FAC and will be getting a CZ 455.22 L/R next week and will use same, i have upgraded my T38 to get a better distance by using a 2X teleconverter lens and work well to 150mtrs. your 243 would need a more special longer beam torch maybe the 50mm and you can upgrade that same way. cheers hello, i use a T38 with red led and I/R on my sub 12 air rifles I/R with a photon,. i now have my FAC and will be getting a CZ 455.22 L/R next week and will use same, i have upgraded my T38 to get a better distance by using a 2X teleconverter lens and work well to 150mtrs. your 243 would need a more special longer beam torch maybe the 50mm and you can upgrade that same way. cheers hello, i meant the T50
Dougy
If you're thinking of ir I can recommend the dragonfly. With my archer I was spotting rabbits at over 300yds last night.
al4x
Well ordered a NM800 today with a dimmer. A bit more than what had intended but it should cover my needs. Thanks to those who offered advice ATB, pat You won't regret it, I've one of the first ones still and it just does what it's meant to. Battery life is great it's been totally reliable and with my archer it has accounted for a serious number of foxes.
