Ferretboy111
Hurra a huge field of peas have been drilled on my shoot..... Ah, downsides... the field is huge...... Also just want to rant over the effectiveness of the modern day drilling machinery... Not a single pea left on top for them to pick at. Thats my fun ruined all ready. stevethevanman
I think sooner or later the pigeons will figure out all they have to do to get at the seed is to move away some soil depending on how deep down the seed is.

Cranfield
There is a similar field not far from me, it must be at least 40 acres and there is not a scrap of cover anywhere near it. One side is a lane (with no hedgerow) and the other three sides are wheat fields. There must have been at least 200 pigeons dotted all over it this morning. lurcherboy
Put up flags on all the fields that you won't be shooting on and enjoy the company You are lucky to have farmers sowing peas. LB
the hitman
Sometimes pigeons don't switch on to a pea field until its a good few inches through the ground. This usually means they have a nice food supply else where to finish first. Sprouting beans are not a draw for pigeons , not sure why , perhaps at this time of year they have tastier things on the menu.
karl h
Had this last year the pigeons did not hit the peas until they were out in flower. But when they didi hit them we had three to four weeks of good sport averaging 100 bird days so heres hoping for a few weeks time.
henry d
Sometimes the pigeon don`t like the type of pea sown, however have a look when they start sprouting for areas like corners or field gates where the peas can be over or undersown and therefore provide a section of field that will be comparitively bare when the rest of the crop is high. Places that get either toodamp or too dry also work this way
Ferretboy111
Here they come, they are starting to hit it now, groups of 50 odd, ill give it another week or so for them to establish themselves abit more, then stake it out.
