oxfordfowler
Well car is packed and we are off to spend 3 days with DV shooting in the Scottish Borders. 340 mile trip so should arrive about 16:30 this afternoon. Just sat here now worrying what I have forgotten to pack and how much stuff that I have packed won't be needed ?. Why do we have so much shooting "stuff". Looking forward to the trip and spending a few days with my brother. Not sure what to expect as this is the first time we have ever used a guide and had to actually pay for shooting - strange feeling as where we normally go (and have done for 40 years) Goose shooting only costs us a couple of bottles and our B&B. Ah well we shall see. Home on Wednesday.

oxfordfowler
Well just returned home. Have to say that we did enjoy the 3 morning flights with DV. In all we ended up with 59 geese (Pinks, Grays & Canadas). Saw plenty of Geese some excellent company and good shooting. First flight was 10 minutes from DV's house second out in Mid Lothian (Edinburgh way) and third back in England close to Berwick and in site of Holy Island - well it would have been but for the pea souper that had descended. So now have 16 Geese hanging in my shed which should keep me busy for a few hours on Friday. Looking forward now to the last week in January when we will again be making the trip up to the Solway for another week of wildfowling - permits have arrived and B&B is booked.
