Passionforangling
About a month ago I posted about an enjoyable afternoon ending up with 32 pigeons. I didn't shoot particularly well and should have had a lot more. Interestingly, I thought this particular stubble field was past its best but on Wednesday last week noticed a good number of birds on the fields as I walked the dog about 3.00pm. So, decided to give the field a go the next day. When I arrived there didn't look like there was much happening apart from a couple of surveyors looking at the trees they are proposing to remove as part of the HS2 rail track which will run just at the back of our village. As I was speaking to them, I noticed a few birds starting to flight over from a nearby estate and so hurried the surveyors along and set up mid way between two large oaks on the field boundary. I used half a dozen dead birds and the rotary and after just a few minutes the first bird came in beautifully to the decoys. I had a very enjoyable session and collected 32 birds again, what a coincidence? The thing this time was that I shot a lot better. I was using a semi auto and picked 41 cases at the end. I will have missed a few cases no doubt but certainly less than fifty shots fired so very pleased with the result. My wife decided to have a go at making pigeon pate with some of the birds.....I'm afraid to report it was a disaster. The pate tasted far too creamy and buttery, shame. If anyone has a good recipe for the above perhaps they could let me know or post it in the food section. Be nice to make a good one for Xmas

pigeon controller
That sounds a great session by going with your instincts you were confident and that was reflected in cartridge to bird ratio. It does not have to be massive bag for total satisfaction . I bet you enjoyed the day a pity the pate was not a great success . Again well done. Passionforangling
Thanks for that help. Just googled the book and it gets some good reviews so I've just bought a copy from the Bay Just update anyone that is interested. I bought the book that Blackpowder recommended and duly made the pate from within. It was absolutely gorgeous, one of the nicest things I've ever eaten. Highly recommended if you shoot a lot of pigeons, or not!
