robbiep
Yes, application/renewal/variation fees went up in April this year. For variations, a 1-for-1 is still free - as it always was. However, the fee for variation for an addition to your FAC has always carried a fee, and this has increased.

No, it has decreased from £26 to £20 Mike
TR1
There is no variation for a SGC. The cert authorises the right to acquire or sell any shotgun. Newly acquired guns or sale of already listed guns are required to be notified to the issuing authority, often an email is OK. On subsequent renewal the current list of guns held is updated on the new cert . Of course a resonanable limit on the number of guns is expected. robbiep
So you would need to sell the FAC air, and within 7 days notify the police of the sale. At the same time, submit your 1-for-1 application for purchase of the HMR. Oh, and many thanks for the correction Mike, I'd had it in my head that the variation fee had risen. Luckyshot
If your fac air slot isn't already filled then its a free 1 for 1 swap for an hmr slot just fill the paper work in and send it off.

Since when is there a reasonable limit on the number of guns held on an sgc?
robbiep
Since when is there a reasonable limit on the number of guns held on an sgc? He did say that a reasonable limit is expected. Not a requirement. If you started collecting considerable numbers, it would be entirely reasonable for the police to tell you to upgrade security or cut the number you owned. wildrover77
Ok so there is no limit subject to sufficient secure storage
