viking
I work for an IT support company and we recommend that no-one upgrades to 10. At least wait until Service Pack 1 is out (That is a general rule of thumb for any MS 'upgrade'). I can see why

old'un
your well sussed for an old'n mate cos I dont know what language your talking Something I have always been interested in, have built a few computers for friends and family over the years you can get top spec computer for half the price. Stick with windows 7 till they get all the bugs ironed out, steer clear of windows 8. Mmmm windows 10 there's lots not to like about it, just Google 'windows 10 spy'
VicW
At least wait until Service Pack 1 is out (That is a general rule of thumb for any MS 'upgrade'). Microsoft have recently issued an 'upgrade' as opposed to an 'update' to Windows 10 that appears to be equivalent to a 'Service Pack' as it took best part of an hour to download and install. I have two PC's running 10 having been on 7 before and apart from a 'critical error' problem on one of them, which has disappeared since the recent upgrade, I have no problems with 10. Vic. More than likely VOB files, these will not play on your TV from a USB drive, they need to be in USB friendly format like mp4, mov, mkv, avi, etc, you will need some software to rip the dvd, there's plenty of free software out there with instructions on 'how to' I have attached one such link to give you some idea of what is involved, also reading your previous post about new computers you will need one that is of reasonable spec because it take some time and computer resources to convert the DVD to a USB friendly file. http://onebestsoft.com/rip-dvd-to-usb-thumbdrive/ Hope this helps

amateur
When I upgraded to W10, the only problem that I had was with my old HP laser printer driver. Easily fixed, though, by downloading from the HP site
