WelshAndy
I can sharpen most knives with my lansky sharpener but I can't find the angle for the field crafter. So before I ruin the edge any advice? Cheers Andy

clanchief
All I use is a stone, albeit now a set of Japanese water stones I find the best for a Scandi edge, (and the easiest), this is all you should need thought a reasonable result should be able from what you have, maybe the scandi edge surface may not end up polished enough. jeffjjack
Just google sharpening scandi grind knife I have got razor sharp results with different grades of wet n dry paper stuck on a flat surface (like a spare bathroom/kitchen tile) to replace a wetstone. Or invest in a Japanese wet stone

tx4cabbie
There's a great video on this with ray mears, shows how to do it on waterstones, with closeups. Quite easy to do
malkiserow
follow the existing one..... there will be a section on the blade somewhere it shows
FalconFN
follow the existing one..... there will be a section on the blade somewhere it shows I've got a fieldcrafter but it has a flat grind with no bevel on the edge, so for this knife I use the sandpaper method as above but with a magazine under it rather than a tile. For all other knives I use a stone. Edited January 8, 2016 by FalconFN

Savhmr
I have one of his knives, which unfortunately was over-tempered by Matt meaning it requires frequent sharpening as the edge is so soft. (Matt has not returned any correspondence when I tried getting something done about this because he's packed the business up and now sold all his kit off,...poor show considering the cost but that's another matter). Scandi grind just means that there's no bevel to the edge. I use Japanese water stones to sharpen my knives so am not sure how you'd go about achieveing a flat grind using a lansky so it could be that you'll need to use stones to recover the edge on the fieldcrafter? darren 67
Take a look on YouTube at fixed angle sharpening system. I got a cheep copy of an auction site and it gives a good edge.
figgy
If you have a soft edge knife put a steeper bevel edge rather than the shallow Scandi grind and it should last longer Edited January 20, 2016 by figgy
