teal27
Avery I think are one of the better ones, I use it for my cocker
crichbish
I have the Avery one, quality is ok, used to have the jack pyke, which I lost, for me it was much better quality. I do regret buying the Avery, nothing really wrong with it, just think the jack pyke was better all round.
iamspuddy
for my springer i have an avery boaters version so you can pick them up through slots in the top. its better than the jack pyke one i had as because of the way its manufactured you can trim the holes around the legs to fit the dog . The jack pyke one i had was stitched and hemmed around the openings which is good but meant i couldn't make the holes fit .
fenboy
I have Avery ones for my dogs as said they can be cut to fit easily , thats important as too tight under the legs and it will rub them raw.
E.w.
My shooting bud has an avery one for his spaniel and that does stop him shivering I have a lab so he does not need one.
Richie10
I have an Avery one, use it when it's cold or windy on the lab still shivers, out of excitement....
hedge
I make my own and custom fit them. Softshell fabric is quite good - windproof and waterproof (to a point). Better thermal properties than neoprene which is only most effective when it's wet. A lot of shop bought ones are a generic shape and sadly not all dogs are the same! MGMPEST
i use the jack pyke one with my cocker, although its well built the fit is a slight issue round his neck area, seems a little baggy.

kent
I had an avery on my gwp a proper lab don't need one but care should still be taken. It's funny how dogs don't shiver from excitement mid July
dawntredder
The shivering is part of the warming up process,so they shiver to warm them self's back up that's what I read in a book on spaniels as they don't have double coats like labs....there heating system is different to ours. Labs will also shiver once they get cold. I know of a lab that died of hypothermia on the marsh its well possible especially if your lab lives in a centrally heated house or lacks the full double coat. Don't ignore shivering unless your dog shivers in 20 degree plus sunshine in july

He lives in a kennel. I would imagine it would be cold but his core is warm.
FatFreddysCat
I have a Jack Pyke one for my springer. Fit is good and it seems well made. Floatation inserts are rubbish, I took them out and stuffed the pockets with bubble wrap.
happy.plinker
A friend of mine made one out of old leaky camo chest waders, the shoulder velcro straps goes under the dog I think, its quite smart but then he is an engineer

There is no question they work care needs taking the fog don't overheat A towel down sounds like a plan with this dog after its swim.leave the coat on though
