Danger-Mouse
Looks like the new regulations are causing a few problems. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2016/01/19/fbi-guns-background-checks/78752774/
Gordon R
Simplistic policies which have not been thought through. Sadly, it is typical of politicians and do-gooders.
grrclark
I daresay there is also a concerted effort to overload the system and stress it to the point of failure. All airgun owners in Scotland should take note and be empowered. Although I have no desire to see an undesirable take possession of a weapon due to a contrived failure in the system, it is unacceptable for our political leaders to put in place ineffective and unworkable policy. That is what is being observed in the US in the article posted by DM.

If I lived in Scotland I would apply for a S1 airgun whether I felt the need or not, simply in the hope of overloading the system.

I've done exactly that,I put in for the variation at the end of august had a home visit(yeah I know) a few weeks later. Heard absolutely nothing so emailed them start of January still nothing so phoned them last week 'oh it's still out at division' what that means i don't know likely lost in the system and was told they'd chase it up. rodp
Keep ringing and tell them "no rush but you'll ring once a week just to keep track". Which is what everyone up there should do.

All gun owners in the uk should apply for a Scottish air gun licence ,just in case you need it . How stupid can it get . I can use my .308 ,.22 rimfire and .17 rimfire in Scotland but need a separate licence for an air gun . Harnser
nighteye
Totally agree, air weapon certificate is a waste of police time and resources, even the police are shaking their heads. To think that I can have a car with 2x.22 rimfires .223,.308.38,.22lbp,.44 pistol and two shotguns but I need a certificate for a air rifle beggars belief!
