Scully
Took me back a bit that. I can no longer be bothered to scramble about on my knees though and certainly can't be ***** to dig anymore, so all mine is done to guns nowadays, and if it's nice on Saturday morning I may be out myself. FOXHUNTER1
Its a wonder they get any bolters noise they make, i thought ferretting was all about being quiet +1 they're clueless. Never learn , when a rabbit bolts always put your foot in the hole to stop any others escaping from the same hole.. How long did it take to skin that rabbit ? Could have done 10 in that time
dazb1967
Great video, and enjoyed watching, you could save your finger by putting a small nick on the back of the rabbits fur in the middle, put your fingers from both hands in the nick and pull apart, it will take you less than 30secs to skin the rabbit, cut off the head and feet before hand as you done, still a good watch though and well done on getting out there. Scully
+1 they're clueless. Never learn , when a rabbit bolts always put your foot in the hole to stop any others escaping from the same hole.. How long did it take to skin that rabbit ? Could have done 10 in that time Unless they've been shown another method then they've got to find out for themselves. Fortunately I was taught by a bloke who really knew what he was doing, and even though he talked and smoked all the time it didn't stop him getting big numbers. Even the sound of a gun going off doesn't prevent rabbits bolting so I doubt a bit of conversation will put them off. I'll agree the skinning of the rabbits was made to look like hard work, but each to their own. I look forward to your video showing us all how it should be done. 5--10 mins of total sweet fa followed but 2 seconds of pure panic GREAT STUFF . had 13 just before xmas on a spot of land of mine hit 7 form just the one earth my mate on the other side of the edge row didn`t see one bolt Yep. srspower
So challenging and a great rush. I would love to give shooting them as they bolt a go, my Dad is dead against it though. I have seen it done dangerously but provided everyone knows what the rules are or you are alone there is no reason it can't be perfectly safe. Could have done 10 in that time oh god forbid that a rabbit might bolt out of the same whole and get away , that would absolutely ruin anyone's day and to think he dare skin a rabbit with a knife when you can just pull the pelt off and over feet and head. Look foxhunter we all know how great your are and how you like to ridicule these people of lesser knowledge but every now and then you ought to try having a day off from being a total pillock. I have seen it done dangerously but provided everyone knows what the rules are or you are alone there is no reason it can't be perfectly safe. It's done best with a couple of guns and a dedicated ferret man, who doesn't shoot. All guns are broken until he has done his part and is standing behind the guns; one gun shoots left, the other right, and no one shoots behind, so any rabbits which run between you are left to get away. I often do this on my own as mate isn't a very confident shot on bolting bunnies and wont handle the ferret either so I end up doing both whether he's there or not! Another mate enjoys it but he lives some way away. Give it a go; you'll love it. As Cooooper1 will know, the adrenalin rush and expectation is brilliant! Bluebarrels
Srs as long as you enjoyed the day, that's a bonus, better to be out doing it or learning than sitting at home talking about it. Just remember mate,no one is born an expert we all have to learn and start somewhere atb BB

I'm not great at all ...don't profess to be either. Nothing wrong with trying to do things efficiently and to the best of your ability, this applies to everything in life not just shooting. I've ferretted thousands of rabbits over the years with a top class ferreter and believe me we were very efficient at what we did ......averaging between 50 and 80 rabbits a day ....weekend in weekend out . So it is quite amusing to watch novices making videos and trying to educate others .... If this makes me a pillock so be it

If this makes me a pillock so be it you don't have to be a great ferreter to get numbers , you need lots of rabbits in a particular area . I use to net 30-40 rabbits in a morning when I was about 12-13 years of age with a mate I went to school with an believe me we use to mess about no end but the rabbits were there in big numbers . Oh and Your top class ferreter mate is top class to who . Just because you think his way is top class doesn't make it so for everyone. I used to do a lot of rabbiting years ago but now only do a few .....concentrate on foxes mainly. Best night on rabbits lamping with .22 rimmy ......I shot 213 and packed in half way through the night. Could have probably shot 400 + if had carried on all night , this was in the early 90s in the Scottish Borders. Imagine skinning them the next morning
