Sean Richo
Been offered a 310 acre shoot in a Valley in Wales. Is this big enough for a small DIY shoot the valley is on the edge of Snowdonia national park but is nothing to do with the park just private farmland. It is mainly rough ground with a river running through it lots of gorse and long grass the type snipe live in not any big woods just the odd small groups of trees bunched together. So mixed land really it's all in one block farmer wants £600 is this reasonable.
oldypigeonpopper
hello, sounds a good deal to me if you get in writing and say 4 members including your self £150 each plus costs for putting any birds down and with the working parties made in to a nice shoot. and a river !!!!!!! trout fishing/ even better if you were allowed to form a pond for ducks shooting to, good luck,
CharlieT
Depends what you expect from it. £12 a week for a walk round with a gun once a week is hardly big money. If you intend to develop a game shoot then you will need to site your plots at the top of the valley so you can fly the birds across. However, if your happy to walk up a few birds once a week or so and enjoy working your dog, then it's well worth a go and would provide you with some great fun. markm
You will need feeders, might be a good idea to buy them in the first year and see what wild stuff you can pick up. There's a guy on dabay who sells them ready made up. You can get a pallet of 27 delivered for £360. They take a bag each so 3/4 tonne. If things don't go to plan you can always sell them. Scully
You can get feeders for nowt if you ask around, such as car wash outlets or bakeries. Our feeders came from a local bakery which were only too happy to let us take away the drums ingredients such as syrup, come in. We then moved onto feeders we cadged from bird suppliers. None cost us a penny. Try and get as much done as possible without paying for it, before forking out money.
Konnie
Have in mind what you want from it, and be happy as has already been mentioned, check your wild stock first, and remember the hens lay the eggs. Because once you start putting down you will expect to shoot X amount,
