davids3511
Noticed this gun on guntrader last week at what appears to be a great discount. Are the scrapes that significant to the safety of the gun to knock nearly 1k off as compared to a new gun? Just wondering what's acceptable and what isn't. https://www.gunwatch.co.uk/guns/14602-Miroku-mk-70-sport-for-sale

Scully
If it's just a scratch then it's purely cosmetic and easily resolved. If it's a dent then it can also be resolved. It's hard to tell from just a photo'.
rimfire4969
Difficult to see how bad the barrel is from that photo, it might just be a scrape that's taken the bluing off or maybe someone has had a go with a hacksaw. In the sellers description it says the odd knock but nothing serious, which should indicate it's just the bluing but nothing serious to him might be very serious to you and that's where trust comes in. I would ask for another photo or two of the barrel damage and ask a few questions.
davids3511
He said the gun was dropped on a game shoot. What worries me is if the metal is gouged, which it looks like it might be.
davids3511
Ok ive spoken to the seller. The scratch does go into the metal. He brought it to sandwell field sports who checked it out and said its fine to shoot. What do people think. Sellers at work so cant send pics. rimfire4969
I would contact Barrelblacker on here, he does all sorts of barrel repairs for a living. His advise would carry some weight instead of someone like me just guessing.

Jaymo
Looks superficial from the photo so I would have no qualms Have had several dents removed in the past for not much money so I would go ahead if I was you.
rimfire4969
How do i get hold of him? Do a search on here for him and send him a message, or I believe he has a Facebook page but I don't do that.

figgy
I wouldn't let scratch put me off the gun, it would disappear when reblacked.
dougall
it is a cracking/suspicious price for a mk70 .if it is superficial then easy fix,Blackbarrel on here is your man to sort it.If the metal is badly damaged there though I would tread carefully.....and v hard in the pictures to see how deep the damage is......if sortable blackbarrel will do it for surprisingly little money and if not deep then a great gun and a good price.
